A spell of wet weather will affect all of Ireland during Thursday and Friday ahead of an improvement in conditions as next week progresses.

Rain will push into Atlantic coastal counties on Thursday afternoon, but it will remain dry in the east until Thursday night.

Rain will become widespread overnight.

Scattered outbreaks will continue through much of Friday, but it will gradually turn drier from the west.

Top temperatures of 12 to 15C on Thursday and Friday in light northeast winds, veering moderate south-westerly during Friday.

It will be somewhat overcast for much of Saturday in east Ulster with some light rain or drizzle, but there will be good dry spells elsewhere with only light scattered showers.

Scattered outbreaks of rain or showers will push in off the Atlantic on Saturday night, and will only slowly clear during Sunday.

The best of any dry spells on Sunday will be away from Atlantic coastal counties, particularly during the second half of the day.

The opening days of next week will bring a mix of scattered showers and sunny spells, but conditions will be much less unsettled than of late as high pressure becomes established nearby.

It will turn much warmer with temperatures of 17 to 21C by midweek.
