
Status Yellow rainfall warnings for 25 counties

Met Éireann and the UK Met Office have issued multiple Status Yellow weather warnings today as heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms move across Ireland.
Republic of Ireland Warnings
Met Éireann has issued two separate Status Yellow rainfall warnings:
Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, and Sligo
Valid from 11:00 to 21:00 today, this warning highlights the risk of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms in the northwestern and northern counties.
Potential impacts include:
- Localised flooding
- Poor visibility
- Difficult travelling conditions
Leinster and Waterford
- A similar warning was issued for Leinster and Waterford, in effect from 10:57 to 18:00 today. The eastern and southeastern parts of the country are expected to see persistent rain with the chance of thunderstorm activity.
- Commuters and residents are urged to exercise caution due to:
- Flooded roads and surfaces
- Reduced visibility
- Hazardous driving conditions
Northern Ireland Warning
The UK Met Office has also issued a Yellow Rain Warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry, valid from 06:00 to 21:00 today.
Forecasters warn of heavy rainfall moving northwards, which could cause surface water flooding, disruption to road and rail services, and delays or cancellations to public transport.
The warning was first issued on Wednesday and updated earlier today.
Marine Warning in Effect
A Status Yellow Small Craft Warning is also in place for coastal waters from Malin Head to Belfast Lough to Howth Head.
Southeast winds are expected to reach force 6 on the Beaufort scale between 18:00 today and 01:00 Friday, creating hazardous conditions for small vessels and marine operators.
