A mixed and unsettled spell of weather is expected over the coming days, with showers, longer spells of rain, and occasional brighter intervals. While the west and southwest will see the bulk of the rainfall at first, wetter conditions will gradually extend north and east over the weekend. Temperatures will generally remain in the high teens to low twenties, with winds mostly light to moderate and varying in direction as the weather systems move through.
Friday
Scattered showers will move east across the country, with a clearance following from the west during the afternoon.
Temperatures will range from 16 to 20°C, in light and variable winds.
Saturday
A mainly dry start, apart from a few isolated showers. A band of persistent rain will develop in the southwest during the afternoon and will slowly extend north through the day. The east and north are expected to stay largely dry through daylight hours. Rain will continue to spread northward on Saturday night.
Temperatures between 15 and 21°C, coolest in the southwest and warmest in the northeast.
Winds will be gentle to occasionally moderate, southeasterly.
Sunday
A wet start in many areas. Rain will become lighter and patchier through the day, with good dry spells developing in the west. However, wetter conditions may persist in Leinster and Ulster.
Temperatures of 15 to 21°C, in light to gentle southerly winds.
Monday
Scattered showers, with more persistent rain likely in the eastern half of the country later in the day. Drier conditions will develop further west during the afternoon.
Temperatures ranging from 15 to 20°C, in light northerly winds.
Tuesday
Heavy and possibly thundery showers will extend across Ireland from the west.
Temperatures between 15 and 20°C, in gentle westerly winds.
Outlook
The changeable pattern looks set to continue through next week, with spells of rain or showers interspersed with drier, brighter intervals. Temperatures will generally remain in the high teens to low 20s, possibly climbing a little higher later in the week. Winds will be predominantly west to southwesterly.
