Small Craft and Gale Warnings in Place for Irish Coasts

Boat-In-Galway-Bay-Ireland-1200x675 Small Craft and Gale Warnings in Place for Irish Coasts

Met Éireann has issued a yellow Small Craft warning for all coasts of Ireland as west to northwest winds are expected to reach force 6 or higher. The warning is valid until midday on Monday.

A separate yellow Gale warning has also been issued for the northwestern coast from Bloody Foreland to Fair Head, extending to Carlingford Lough and the Irish Sea north of Anglesey.

Winds in these areas may reach gale force 8 at times. The gale warning is valid from midnight to 7am on Monday.

Boaters and those engaged in coastal activities are advised to exercise caution and to monitor Met Éireann for updates.

On land, winds have eased since Friday, when gusts reached 85 kilometres per hour. However, conditions are expected to become increasingly unsettled later next week as areas of low pressure deepen and track close to Ireland’s west coast.
