Storm Bram: 30 counties under orange alert

Winds of more than 130 km/h are possible in exposed coastal areas today as the second named storm of the season rapidly develops while tracking north over Ireland.
Met Éireann has extended its land and marine warnings as Storm Bram approaches. All 26 counties of the Republic and 4 counties in Northern Ireland are now under a status orange wind alert, while a status red marine warning along the Atlantic coast has been extended to the southeast.
An orange wind warning is in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary and Waterford until 3pm. Bram is forecast to bring very strong to gale force southerly winds with severe gusts. Coastal flooding is likely, especially at high tide, with wave overtopping, difficult travel conditions, displaced debris, disruption to outdoor events and possible power outages.
A second orange warning runs from 11am to 7pm for Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath and Connacht. Donegal is under an orange warning from 2pm to 9pm.
In Northern Ireland, the Met Office has placed Antrim, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry under an amber wind warning. The alert is valid from 2pm to 7pm today, with forecasters warning of hazardous conditions and possible impacts on travel and power supplies.
A yellow rain warning is in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork, Kerry, Tipperary and Waterford until 9am. Heavy rain on saturated ground raises the risk of river flooding and surface water. A nationwide yellow wind warning is valid until 9pm, with peak winds expected to move into western and northwestern counties later in the day.

The UK Met Office has issued a yellow wind warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry, warning of disruption across western Northern Ireland.
Marine warnings are severe. A red storm warning is in effect from Carnsore Point to Roche’s Point to Loop Head until 3pm, with south to southwest winds occasionally reaching violent storm force 11. Another red warning covers Loop Head to Erris Head to Malin Head from noon until 8pm. An orange marine warning applies to all coasts and the Irish Sea until midnight, with southerly winds later veering southwesterly reaching gale force 9 or storm force 10.
