
Starry skies and shooting stars on Sunday night
Sunday night brought starry skies and much lower temperatures than of recent.
For the fourth consecutive night, the Northern Lights have appeared on the horizon along the north coast of Ulster.
The live webcam at Fort Dunree, near Buncrana in Donegal, captured clear skies and shooting stars with the faint green and purple hues of the Aurora Borealis.
Temperatures will dip close to freezing in inland parts of Ulster and Leinster as well as throughout the Midlands on Sunday night into Monday morning.
Dublin Airport reported 2 C at 11.00 p.m., while it was much milder further west with Valentia in Kerry registering 12 C.
There will be plenty of sunshine across Ireland on Monday.
Following a week of lower temperatures, compared to the rest of Ireland, the east and south will warm up due to slacker winds.
Top temperatures on Monday will range from 14 to 19°C, warmest in the west.
The rest of the coming week will bring dry and warm conditions with widespread sunshine.
Sunshine will become a little hazier later in the week.
