Tyre track clouds roll over Ireland

NASA‘s satellite image of Ireland, taken 700km above earth’s surface shortly before midday, shows extensive cloud cover that takes on the appearance of tyre tracks.
The distinctive cloud pattern is the result of wave clouds or altostratus undulatus, which form a wavy appearance due to wind shear.
Most parts of Ireland enjoyed some spells of sunshine during Tuesday.
Widespread sunshine is expected during Wednesday.
