
High cloud spoils sunshine on Tuesday

Scattered high cloud prevented long spells of sunshine from developing across Ireland on Tuesday.
While much of Britain enjoyed unbroken sunshine, parts of the north and west were overcast at times.
Castlederg in County Tyrone was the warmest (18.2 °C) spot on the island of Ireland.

The milder-than-average temperature follows Mount Dillon in County Roscommon claiming the highest temperature of the year on Monday.
The mercury level rose to 19 °C at the Met Éireann synoptic station on Monday afternoon.
Sunshine will become more widespread for the remainder of the week as High Pressure becomes anchored to the northeast of Ireland.
The Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite passed over Ireland at midday today to reveal a mix of cloud and sunny spells in Waterford City and Tramore, County Wicklow, and the Mourne Mountains in County Down.
