East Coast Drenched as West Coast Basks in Sun

Rainfall persisted across Ireland’s east coast through Saturday morning and into the early afternoon, while much of the rest of the country saw sunny spells and scattered showers.
The islands off the west coast were clearly visible from space when the Copernicus Sentinel-2A satellite passed overhead at midday. The satellite captured Inishark, Inisbofin, Inishturk, High, Friar, and Cruagh, lying off the coasts of Galway and Mayo.

Meanwhile, a NASA MODIS satellite image taken at 11.30am showed a much more overcast view of Ireland as overnight rain slowly pushed into the Irish Sea.
Sunday is expected to bring drier conditions across the country, with only isolated showers.
