Spring snowfall in Wicklow and Wexford

Snowfall was reported across the Wicklow Mountains and parts of north Wexford on Wednesday morning as heavy rainfall affected much of Leinster and Ulster.
A Status Yellow rainfall warning for five counties of Leinster was lifted at 2.00 p.m, while a similar warning for Derry, Armagh, Antrim, Tyrone and Down remains in place until 9.00 pm.
Up to 3.00pm on Wednesday, Casement in Dublin reported 25.4mm of rainfall, compared to 24mm at Dublin Airport, 22mm at Ballyhaise in Cavan, and 20mm in Oak Park, Carlow.
Temperatures dropped low enough overnight and early on Wednesday morning for rain to turn increasingly to snow on higher ground in Wicklow and Wexford.
Daytime temperatures remained well below the seasonal average Johnstown Castle in Wexford recording just 6c at 3.00 p.m.
Wicklow County Council took to X to ask the public to avoid the Sally Gap area of the Wicklow Mountains and to drive with care on the Wicklow Gap and other areas on high ground due to snowfall.
Others took to social media on Wednesday morning to post videos of snow settling in the Wicklow Mountains.
