Dry Spell Dominates – But Rain Returns Sunday

Rainfall was below average across much of Ireland last week, with just 0–9mm recorded across Leinster, much of Munster, and parts of Ulster — just 5–50% of normal.
The northwest bucked the trend, with coastal areas in Mayo and Donegal seeing 23–25mm of rain, up to 140% of average.
From today through Saturday, the dry spell continues nationwide. But from Sunday into early next week, showers and rain are expected to return, with totals ranging from 15–50mm — up to twice the norm in some areas.
Warming Up
Temperatures last week trended above normal, with Roches Point in Cork the warmest at 16.9°C., according to Met Éireann. Malin Head was the coolest at 14.1°C. Nationally, mean temperatures ranged from 0.3°C below average to 1.9°C above. Soil temperatures were also higher than normal, reaching up to 19.6°C.
The coming week is expected to stay warm, with air temperatures running 1–3°C above average — generally between 16°C and 20°C.
Sunshine Split
Sunshine totals varied sharply. Belmullet in Mayo saw just 3 hours of sun all week (10% of average), while Roches Point basked in nearly 60 hours (155% of average). Sunshine will stay above average in many areas until Sunday, though western and northwestern coasts may stay dull. From Monday, more cloud and unsettled weather will reduce sunshine nationwide.
