More Sunshine on the Way for Farmers

The coming week will bring a mixed bag of weather, but sunny spells will be more frequent than last week, pushing sunshine levels near or above average overall.
Drying Conditions Improve Early in the Week
Moderate to good drying conditions are expected through the rest of today, Saturday, and on Monday. Sunday will see patchy rain and drizzle, particularly in the west and north. Showers — possibly heavy — are likely on Tuesday and may extend into Wednesday, though some areas could remain dry.
Best Spraying Window on Monday
According to Met Éireann, Monday will offer the most favourable spraying conditions, with long dry intervals and moderate or lighter winds. Further opportunities are expected later in the week in between showers.
Soil Moisture Levels Vary Nationwide
Soil moisture deficits (SMDs) currently range between 20 and 50mm across the midlands, south, and east. In contrast, well-drained and moderately drained soils in parts of the west and north are close to saturation, with poorly drained soils in those regions already saturated. The south may see SMDs increase slightly over the coming week, while little change is expected elsewhere.
