Thunderstorms hit Leinster and Ulster

Thunderstorm-1200x675 Thunderstorms hit Leinster and Ulster

Heavy scattered showers brought thundery downpours and lightning across Leinster and Ulster on Thursday afternoon.

According to Meteologix, a cloud-to-ground lightning strike was recorded in Balbriggan, north County Dublin, at 1.30pm.

Lightning was also reported off the Wicklow and Antrim coasts and in counties Laois, Kilkenny, Wexford, and Kildare.

Clearer skies have already begun to develop in the west, and the showers are expected to ease elsewhere this evening.

Despite a temporary break at the end of the working week, unsettled conditions will return over the weekend and continue into next week, with spells of heavy rain and scattered showers expected up to and including next weekend.
