Over an Inch of Rain Drenches West and South
More than an inch of rain fell in parts of the west and south over the past 24 hours.
Sherkin Island in Cork and Valentia in Kerry both recorded 25mm or more, with high totals also at Cork Airport (22mm), Knock Airport (19.5mm) and Mace Head (21mm).
Most other areas saw around 15mm after a band of rain moved into the southwest on Tuesday afternoon before spreading northeastwards overnight.

The rest of Wednesday will be mainly dry with spells of hazy sunshine and just isolated showers.
On Thursday, it will start wet across Munster and Leinster as scattered outbreaks of rain extend northeastwards. A mix of heavy showers and dry spells will follow from the southwest through late morning and into the afternoon. In the west, showers may merge into longer spells of rain. Skies will remain mostly overcast.
