Met-Eireann-extended-outlook--1200x675 Met Éireann forecasts mild and unsettled conditions over coming weeks

Met Éireann has issued its latest long-range forecast, signalling generally mild conditions for Ireland over the next month and above-average temperatures for the winter months ahead.

For the week beginning Monday, 27 October, high pressure will influence much of the country. Spells of rain and showers are expected at times but dry periods will be more frequent, particularly in the south. Northern areas are likely to see rainfall close to or slightly above average. Temperatures are expected to remain near normal with some western areas slightly warmer.

From Monday, 3 November, low pressure is forecast to dominate. Atlantic frontal systems will bring wetter than average conditions with rain and showers throughout the week. Temperatures are expected to remain around or just above average in a predominantly westerly airflow.

The week of 10 November is likely to remain in a mobile Atlantic regime. Rainfall will be most frequent over western counties with drier spells further east. Temperatures are expected to remain slightly above average. For the week beginning 17 November, forecast confidence is lower, but high pressure may bring generally drier conditions with temperatures remaining slightly above normal.

Met Éireann’s seasonal outlook for November, December and January indicates above-average temperatures, with mean values between 0.5 and 1°C higher than normal. Rainfall is less certain and could be wetter or drier than average at times. Sea surface temperatures around Ireland and the Atlantic are expected to be above average, particularly in December and January, which may influence winter weather patterns.

Met Éireann cautions that while mild conditions are likely, colder spells and winter hazards cannot be ruled out during the period.
