Tullyhaw Wind Farm Breaks Ground in Co Cavan

Wind Energy Ireland members Natural Forces, Matheson LLP, Flogas, and Enercon have announced the start of construction on Natural Forces Renewable Energy’s first wind project in Ireland.
Tullyhaw Wind Farm, located in Ballyconnell, County Cavan, will feature a single 4.2 MW ENERCON E-138 turbine.
The project will operate under a dual Power Purchase Agreement model, combining support from the government’s Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS 2) with a 15-year Corporate Power Purchase Agreement with Matheson LLP and Flogas Ireland. The wind farm is expected to achieve commercial operation in June 2026, with 3.35 MW supported through RESS 2 and the remaining 0.85 MW supplied via the corporate PPA.
Tullyhaw Wind Farm is part of a wider partnership with Natural Forces and Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc., which has secured project finance for approximately 30 MW of wind energy across Ireland. The €45 million facility will support five wind projects, generating enough electricity to power more than 20,000 homes annually.
Jonathan Coffey, Director of Development Ireland at Natural Forces, said: “We are proud to see our first project under construction in Ireland. Securing this financing has been a 12-month effort, and reaching this milestone is a significant achievement for our team and everyone involved. We are excited to build on this success and advance our portfolio over the next year.”
