1975: Thunderstorms cause flash flooding and widespread power outages. Claremorris, Mayo records 44mm of rain in just a few hours.

1983: Temperatures soar to 31.4°C in Kilkenny City.

1999: Over 20,000 litres of fuel oil leak into Mucrós Bay, a popular fishing spot in Donegal.

2006: Warm and settled conditions persist nationwide, with temperatures reaching the mid-20s Celsius.

2018: Rainfall ends absolute drought conditions at stations across the East, Midlands, West, and South.

2019: Belmullet, Mayo records the month’s highest daily sunshine total at 15.7 hours.

2023: Heavy rainfall causes spot flooding and large amounts of surface water in the Clieveragh area of Listowel, County Kerry. Close to 40mm of rain is recorded at a weather station in Killarney by 10am.
