1955 – A 33-year-old mother is killed when lightning strikes her home at Ards, near Bantry, Co Cork. Fierce thunderstorms are reported in the southwest.
1959 – A wind gust of 119 km/h is recorded at Shannon Airport, Co Clare, as a deep low pressure system brings unseasonably strong winds.
1968 – Strong gale-force winds lead to the abandonment of the final attempt that year to recover wreckage of the Aer Lingus Viscount which crashed near Tuskar Rock lighthouse, Co Wexford.
1970 – A flood warning is issued for low-lying areas of Cork City ahead of incoming spring tides.
1995 – Dublin Fire Brigade tackles gorse fires in Killiney and Rathmichael as Coillte warns of a heightened forest fire risk nationwide.
2007 – Gale-force winds and huge seas force more than half the Fastnet Race fleet to retire to port.
2016 – Dublin Airport records 14.2 hours of sunshine, its sunniest day of the month.
2017 – Casement Aerodrome, Co Dublin, records 12.8 hours of sunshine, the highest daily total in an otherwise dull month.
2022 – A nationwide Status Orange thunderstorm warning is issued; flooding in parts of Leinster and Munster marks the end of a 5–6 day heatwave.
