Small-craft-warning-1200x675 Wind and rain warnings hit east and south

Met Éireann has issued a series of Status Yellow warnings for Friday as strong winds and heavy rain affect parts of the country.

Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford are under a wind warning from 11am to 5pm, with gusty southeasterly winds expected to make travel difficult and displace loose objects.

Cork and Kerry face a rain warning until 9am on Saturday, with heavy showers and longer spells of rain bringing a risk of localised flooding and poor visibility.

In Northern Ireland the Met Office has warned of strong winds across Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry between midday and 7pm. The conditions may disrupt transport and infrastructure.

Marine warnings are also in place. Gale force winds of up to force nine are forecast for all Irish coasts and the Irish Sea until 9pm on Friday. A small craft warning is in effect for the same period, with winds reaching force six or higher.

From 9pm Friday until 3pm Saturday southwest to west winds are expected to reach gale force eight from Howth Head to Dungarvan to Slyne Head and across the Irish Sea south of Anglesey.
