Fog lingers in places on Friday

Some mist and fog lingered until midday in places on Friday, as most of Ireland enjoyed widespread sunshine.
The NASA Modis and Copernicus Sentinel-2 showed sea fog drifting close to the east coast, including the towns of Arklow in County Wicklow and Gorey in County Wexford.
Fog was also slow to clear a stretch of land from Warrenpoint (Down) to the Ring of Gullion (Armagh) and Castleblayney (Monaghan).

A wider satellite view of Ireland and Britain showed much more extensive patches of mist and fog in Britain, as well as in Galway Bay on Ireland’s west coast.

Saturday will begin with hazy sunshine, but it will cloud over by late afternoon from the west, with some light rain or drizzle forming.
Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday will see heavy showers, with some scattered thunderstorms, affecting all areas with some bright spells in between.
It will feel much colder from Sunday through mid-week
