Ireland’s island landscapes shine in new BBC series

The breathtaking beauty of Ireland’s islands — from Rathlin in the north to Cape Clear in the south — is captivating millions of viewers across the UK in a new BBC Two series.
The Emerald Isles, presented by actor and comedian Ardal O’Hanlon, is a three-part documentary co-produced by Tourism Ireland, in partnership with One Tribe TV and Boulder Creek International.
Each episode showcases stunning aerial and on-the-ground footage of Ireland’s dramatic coastal landscapes, while sharing the unique stories of island communities scattered across the country.
Ardal guides viewers on an immersive journey through the islands’ rich history, diverse wildlife, and the lives of those who call these remote places home.
In episode one, viewers visit Rathlin, Tory, and Arranmore.
Episode two explores the Aran Islands, Great Blasket, Valentia, and the iconic Skellig Michael.
The final episode brings the adventure to a close on some of County Cork’s most scenic islands, including Garnish, Sherkin, and Cape Clear.

Judith Cassidy, Tourism Ireland‘s Acting Head of Great Britain, said, “Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity to inspire potential British travellers about what the island of Ireland has to offer for a holiday in 2025 and beyond.”
