Met Éireann has issued a nationwide High Temperature warning for Saturday, with daytime highs expected to exceed 28°C and nighttime temperatures remaining above 15°C.

A separate High Temperature warning is also in place for Friday, covering a reduced number of counties.

Forecasts indicate temperatures of 27°C or higher in Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, and Tipperary.

The current spell of hot, dry weather will persist through the weekend, with conditions expected to break on Sunday afternoon as cooler air and scattered thunderstorms begin to move in from the southwest.

The hottest day of the year so far still belongs to Mount Dillon in County Roscommon, where 29.6°C was recorded on June 29 — the highest June temperature since 2018.

Looking ahead to next week, more unsettled conditions are expected. Heavy showers will develop, particularly in the west and southwest. Temperatures will dip back to the high teens.

This warm spell is being driven by a high-pressure system drawing hot air northwards from Iberia and France.
