Marine Warnings Issued Ahead of Storm Floris

Met Éireann has issued a series of marine warnings as Storm Floris approaches, with hazardous sea conditions expected around the Irish coast from Sunday night into Monday and beyond.
A Small Craft Warning is in effect from Mizen Head to Loop Head to Erris Head, where southerly winds will strengthen to force 6 or 7 between 11pm Sunday and 1am Monday. Mariners are advised to exercise extreme caution as conditions begin to deteriorate ahead of the storm.
From 1am Monday through to 1pm Tuesday, a nationwide Small Craft Warning comes into force, covering all Irish coastal waters. During this period, south to southwest winds will veer westerly and reach force 6 or higher, making conditions increasingly hazardous for smaller vessels.
In addition, a Status Yellow Gale Warning has been issued for the stretch of sea from Loop Head to Bloody Foreland to Carlingford Lough, and for the Irish Sea north of Anglesey. Winds are expected to strengthen to gale force 8, with occasional gusts reaching strong gale force 9, between 1am and 7pm on Monday.

These warnings come as Storm Floris is forecast to bring very strong winds, heavy rain, and rough seas, particularly along the western seaboard and northern coasts.
