Met Éireann has issued a Yellow Small Craft Warning valid from 2 pm today, until 6 am tomorrow, Thursday.

Southerly winds are expected to reach force 6 or higher this afternoon along coastal areas from Mizen Head in the south, through Loop Head, up to Erris Head in the northwest. These strong winds will then spread to affect all coasts of Ireland throughout the evening. Boaters and small craft operators are advised to exercise caution due to potentially hazardous sea conditions.

On land, winds will be moderate westerly on Wednesday morning but will turn fresh later in the day. By Thursday, westerly winds will ease back to moderate and become lighter by the evening.

Looking ahead, the coming 10 days will bring plenty of dry weather, particularly to the south and east. While occasional outbreaks of rain will mainly affect the west and northwest, much of the country can expect a mix of sunny spells and mild temperatures.

Winds will initially be moderate but will turn lighter and more variable later this weekend. Rainfall totals are forecast to remain well below average for many areas, especially away from the Atlantic coasts.
