Ireland Records Its Windiest Day Since February

Ireland has experienced its windiest day since February, with Mace Head in Connemara recording a gust of 108 km/h overnight.
The coastal station also reported a sustained mean wind speed of 79 km/h, with the peak gust of 108 km/h (58 knots) recorded at 1am.
It marks the strongest gust observed in Ireland since Valentia Observatory in Co Kerry logged a 59-knot (109 km/h) gust on February 20th. The same low-pressure system that generated the strong winds also brought heavy rainfall on Sunday, with Valentia reporting just over an inch of rain.
The windy spell of weather has been consistently showing up on long range weather models since early last week.

Blustery conditions will persist through Monday, with gusts exceeding 70 km/h along the Atlantic seaboard this afternoon before easing later.
The week ahead will remain changeable. Tuesday will start mostly dry before heavy rain spreads from the southwest later, continuing overnight. Wednesday will be windy with rain clearing eastwards to leave largely dry conditions and hazy sunshine, though drizzle may linger along southern coasts.
Thursday will bring showers, including some thundery downpours, with heavier rain expected in parts of the south and east by evening. Friday will see sunny spells and scattered showers before cloud thickens and heavy rain arrives overnight. Saturday is forecast to be wet, cool and breezy with persistent rain for much of the day.
