Small craft warning for northwest despite settled spell

Despite high pressure bringing settled and mostly calm conditions on land over the next ten days, Met Éireann has issued a small craft warning for the northwest coast.
The warning, in effect from Erris Head to Bloody Foreland to Fair Head, advises that west to southwest winds will reach force 6 at times.
It will remain valid from 9am on Wednesday until 8am on Thursday.
Met Éireann issued the alert at midday today.
Apart from some patchy drizzle today, Ireland’s weather will remain largely dry and settled for at least the next 10 days.
A broad area of high pressure will become firmly established over the country, keeping Atlantic weather systems at bay through the middle of the month.
As October enters its final 10 days, Ireland is expected to lie on the boundary between high pressure over Britain and more unsettled Atlantic conditions to the west. Long-range data currently suggests high pressure may weaken, allowing frontal systems to move in from the Atlantic.
