Bright or sunny spells with scattered showers, some merging into longer spells of rain. Blustery at times, though drier periods will occur further east and south. Showers will persist overnight, especially in the northwest.

A band of rain will extend countrywide, with some heavy falls in places. Clearance to scattered showers will follow from the southwest by mid-morning, though rain will be slow to clear Ulster.

Unsettled with widespread showers, though the southeast and south will see some drier spells.

Persistent rain will affect western and northwestern coasts, with uncertainty over how far inland it will spread during the day. The rain is expected to track eastward by late Friday and overnight, bringing wet conditions nationwide.

Rainfall will stay above average, though temperatures will return to near-normal values. Toward mid-September, high pressure building from the south may bring more settled conditions to the south and east.
