Alert-and-warnings-for-three-counties-1200x675 Rainfall Warning for Kerry, Cork and Waterford

Heavy rain will sweep across Ireland from Monday night into Tuesday, raising the risk of localised flooding in already saturated or waterlogged areas.

The south and far southwest are likely to be worst affected. More than 50 millimetres of rainfall is forecast in parts of Cork, Kerry and Waterford, with higher totals possible over elevated ground.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for the three counties. The alert, valid from midnight until midday on Tuesday 11 November, warns of persistent and occasionally heavy rain. Poor visibility and difficult travel conditions are expected.

A separate marine warning has also been issued for all Irish coasts. South to southeast winds are forecast to reach force six or higher, prompting a small craft warning from midnight until 10am on Tuesday.

The unsettled conditions are set to continue through the working week with further spells of rain. A colder and drier change is expected from the weekend as Arctic air moves in.
