Thursday brings sunshine to south and east

Thursday saw scattered cloud cover mainly across northwest and northern Ireland, while much of the south and east enjoyed mostly clear skies.
Satellite images from Copernicus Sentinel highlighted scenic views of Lough Derg and Limerick City, Waterford City, and even contrails drifting over the Irish Sea.

Friday will start with some fog in parts of the country but will clear up to reveal long spells of sunshine, with temperatures reaching a pleasant 28°C in many areas.
However, Met Éireann has issued a nationwide heat warning for Saturday and Sunday as temperatures are expected to soar above 27°C, marking some of the warmest conditions Ireland has seen this year.
Looking ahead, next week will bring a shift to more unsettled weather, with frequent showers and heavier rain particularly in western counties.
