Mace Head Logs 86 km/h Wind Gust as Low Tracks South

Winds gusted up to 86 km/h on Thursday night into Friday morning as a low-pressure system tracked southeast across Ireland.
Mace Head in Galway recorded a peak gust of 86.5 km/h, while Sherkin Island in Cork and Finner in Donegal saw gusts of 79 km/h and 75 km/h respectively.

Winds will remain strong through Friday and Saturday. Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Small Craft warning for all coasts, with northwesterly to northerly winds expected to reach force 6 or higher from 4 pm on Friday until 5 am on Sunday.
Belmullet in Mayo recorded the highest rainfall over the past 24 hours, with more than 13 mm logged. By contrast, parts of the east coast saw only trace amounts of less than 0.2 mm.
Showers will continue through Friday and Saturday, with occasional sunny breaks. More widespread rain is expected in the northwest on Sunday morning, gradually spreading southeast during the afternoon.
Unsettled conditions are set to persist through the end of the month and into early November, with occasional strong winds.
