
Past week drier and warmer than average across Ireland

Below average rainfall and higher than normal temperatures have been recorded across Ireland over the past week.
Met Éireann says every county of Ireland, apart from Cork, reported 50-70% or less of average rainfall.
Cork recorded the highest accumulation of rainfall during the week.
25.7mm recorded at Cork Airport on Friday, which is more than double the total rainfall at the station for the rest of March to date.
Most of Met Eireann’s 25 synoptic stations recorded above average temperatures.
Dublin Airport was the coolest with a mean air temperature of 6.3 degrees, which was0.6 degrees below average.
Knock Airport in County Mayo recorded 7.4 degrees, which was the highest mean temperature over the past seven days.
Dublin Airport was the sunniest location on the island of Ireland with 44.3 hours of sunshine recorded, almost double the seasonal average.
Sunshine amounts exceeded 35 hours at most other stations this week.
There will be plenty of settled weather up to mid-week as high pressure builds to the south and west of Ireland.
Following today’s rain, Sunday through Wednesday will bring dry conditions away from the northwest and west coasts where there will be occasional drizzle or light showers at times.
It will be drier and warmer than average overall.
