Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rain warning for Cork and Kerry, with spells of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms expected from 10am Saturday to 10am Sunday.

The national forecaster is warning of spot flooding, poor visibility, and difficult driving conditions, as the latest bout of unsettled summer weather moves in from the Atlantic.

Rain will be heaviest in the southwest on Saturday, with embedded thunderstorms possible at times. Showers and rain will persist through Saturday night into Sunday morning before easing.

The warning, issued at 10:30am Friday, comes amid a spell of mixed and often wet weather, with showers forecast on most days. Slight improvements are expected from midweek, with more frequent dry spells developing later in the week.

Daytime temperatures will remain in the mid to high teens, occasionally nudging into the low 20s, with light to gentle westerly breezes persisting.
