Mizen-Head-County-Cork-1200x675 Small craft warning for south coast
Mizen Head, County Cork

Met Éireann has issued a small craft warning for the south coast from the early hours of Saturday, despite generally calm conditions expected inland.

The warning covers coastal waters from Dungarvan to Roche’s Point to Mizen Head, where east to northeast winds will increase to force six or higher between 1am and 4pm on Saturday.

The stronger winds are likely to produce choppy seas in the area. While conditions at sea will be blustery, most areas inland are expected to experience light winds and settled weather on Saturday, with warm temperatures and long spells of sunshine forecast.

Ireland is set to enjoy a warm, mostly dry spell through the weekend and into next week, with sunshine in many areas and temperatures well above average. Scattered showers and the odd thunderstorm will develop at times, mainly in the west and south, but rainfall will stay well below normal.
