Drying Ends, Soils Set to Turn Waterlogged

Farmers will see a brief window of favourable drying conditions early on Monday, but opportunities will deteriorate as wet and windy weather moves in over the course of the week.
Spraying conditions will also be good early on Monday, according to Met Éireann, but will become poor for much of the week ahead as unsettled weather takes hold.
Soil moisture deficits currently range from 0 to 9mm. In west Kerry, some poorly drained soils are already close to being waterlogged. Deficits are expected to decrease further in the coming days, with well-drained soils becoming saturated and many poorly drained soils turning waterlogged as rainfall increases.
A potato blight advisory remains in effect. From Tuesday to Wednesdar, weather conditions conducive to the spread of potato blight are forecast for many coastal regions, especially in the south, southwest, west and northwest. Forecast maps and meteograms are available at www.met.ie
