Met Éireann Issues Marine Warning

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Small Craft Warning ahead of deteriorating marine conditions expected this weekend, with moderate to fresh winds and heavy rainfall forecast across parts of the country.
Southeasterly or cyclonic variable winds are set to reach force 6 or higher from Wicklow Head to Dungarvan to Loop Head, posing a hazard for small boats and coastal activity.
The warning is valid from 09:00 on Saturday 19 July to midnight Sunday 20 July, with potentially dangerous conditions expected for inshore waters.
The marine warning comes amid a broader spell of unsettled and humid weather, with showers or longer spells of rain affecting most parts of the country in the coming days. Saturday’s heaviest rainfall is likely in the southwest, where there is a risk of spot flooding, especially in parts of Kerry and Cork.
Conditions will begin to gradually improve from midweek, with increasing dry spells and temperatures ranging from the mid to high teens, peaking at low 20s Celsius during brighter periods.
Winds will become light to gentle and mainly westerly by midweek.
