1984: Temperatures reach the low 20s in many spots as Ireland enjoys a long spell of summer-like conditions.

1996: Astronomy enthusiast from across Ireland gather for Astronomy Ireland’s comet watch in the Phoenix Park as Comet Hyakutake shines bright.

2017: A grass temperature of -6.1°C is recorded at Casement Aerodrome in Dublin.

2021: Gurteen in Tipperary records 14 hours of sunshine, the highest daily sunshine total for the month.

2023: The lowest air temperature of the month (-3.4°C) is recorded at Mount Dillon in Roscommon.
