1924: The St Swithin’s Day legend nearly comes true, with 30 of the following 40 days turning out wet.

1974: A deep area of low pressure brings unseasonably wet and windy conditions across Ireland.

1983: Kilkenny records a high of 30.6°C, while the northwest remains much cooler, with highs of just 16–17°C.

1989: A stark temperature contrast: Malin Head reaches only 14.9°C, while Roches Point in Cork hits 27.5°C.

2006: Temperatures climb into the mid-20s across much of the country.

2019: A spell of warm, settled weather brings temperatures in the low to mid-20s nationwide.

2021: Warm mid-20s temperatures in the south and east, while cooler conditions persist in the northwest.

2022: Met Éireann issues a Status Yellow warning for high temperatures.
