1962: Survivors from a plane crash off the coast of County Galway are brought to Cork Airport. The Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation, operated by The Flying Tigers, made an emergency landing 500 miles off the Galway coast.
1989: More than 70 people are injured when a train derails near Claremorris, Mayo. The train, carrying pilgrims to Knock, ran into a herd of cattle.
2016: A 57-knot (105 km/h) gust is reported at Belmullet, Co Mayo.
2023: A ground frost is recorded at Cork Airport, with a grass minimum of -1.3 °C, contrasting sharply with the month’s overall warmth.
