A timeline of notable weather events and extremes that have taken place in Ireland on October 19th throughout history.
1943: Storm force south-westerly winds lash Ireland as a deep Atlantic low remains anchored northwest of the country, with strong winds persisting into the 20th.

1993: Overnight temperatures drop to –2.4°C in Dublin and –2.9°C in Kilkenny.
2016: High pressure becomes established over Ireland and remains in place until November 3rd, keeping conditions largely dry and settled.
2017: Met Éireann issues orange wind warnings for Galway, Mayo, Clare, Kerry, Cork, Waterford and Wexford ahead of Storm Brian. The system is forecast to undergo “explosive cyclogenesis”, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to southern and western coasts. On the same date, 45.8 mm of rain is recorded at Gurteen, Co Tipperary, its highest October daily total since 2008.
2020: Valentia Observatory, Co Kerry, records 49.1 mm of rain, the month’s highest daily total and 28 percent of its October long-term average.
