1852: The British and Irish Magnetic Telegraph Company links Britain and Ireland via submarine telegraph cable. The company also operates lines from Donaghadee to Portpatrick, and connects major Irish cities, as far as Limerick, Killarney and Cork.

1977: Valentia, Birr, Shannon, Claremorris, and Kilkenny each reach 23°C.

1985: The temperature rises to 24.7°C at Valentia in Kerry.

2009: The temperature reaches 27.5°C at Claremorris, County Mayo.

2019: The month’s highest gust (87 km/h) is reported at Mace Head, Co Galway.
