Coillte invites public feedback on draft land-use plan

Forestry-1200x675 Coillte invites public feedback on draft land-use plan

Coillte has opened a public consultation on its draft Land Use Strategic Implementation Plan (LUSIP), which sets out how Ireland’s largest landowner plans to manage its forests between 2026 and 2035.

The draft plan outlines how the semi-state forestry company intends to deliver on the objectives of its long-term Forest Estate Land-Use Plan (FESLUP), published in 2023. That framework aims to balance the multiple functions of Coillte’s forests, including climate action, biodiversity, timber production and recreation, through to 2050.

The LUSIP translates those strategic goals into measurable actions for the coming decade. It is accompanied by an environmental assessment and a Natura Impact Statement, which examine the potential effects of the plan on the environment and protected habitats.

The documents can be viewed on Coillte’s website, or in hard copy at the company’s head office in Newtownmountkennedy, Co Wicklow, from October 1st until November 12th.

Submissions or observations can be made by email to LUSIP_SEA@coillte.ie or by post to Coillte Head Office, Dublin Road, Newtownmountkennedy, Co Wicklow, A63 DN25. Only one form of submission should be used, and late submissions will not be accepted.

Coillte said all feedback received during the consultation period will be considered before the plan is finalised. The process is being carried out under the EU regulations governing environmental assessment of plans and programmes.
