Last Post-7pm Sunset of 2025 Hits Ireland Next Week

Ireland is now firmly on the path toward shorter days following the September equinox.
With the autumnal shift, daylight hours are gradually reducing, bringing earlier sunsets and longer nights.
In Dublin, the last sunset of 2025 at around 7pm will occur next Wednesday, when the sun dips below the horizon at 7.01pm. After this, evenings will begin to darken noticeably earlier as the weeks progress.
The transition to winter time will occur on Sunday, October 26, when clocks go back one hour. Following the change, sunset in Dublin will occur at 5.58pm, ushering in evenings that feel significantly shorter.
The shortest day of the year in Ireland in 2025 will be Sunday, 22 December, the winter solstice. On that day, Dublin will see about 7 hours and 41 minutes of daylight, with sunrise around 8:41am and sunset around 4:22pm.
