985: Roads were closed in parts of County Leitrim due to heavy rainfall.
1991: RTÉ News reported that a spell of hot weather had caused a water shortage in an area of Donegal known as The Lagan Desert. Many wells and springs in the area had dried up.
2016: The temperature reached 26 °C at Phoenix Park, Dublin. Aldergrove, located 18 miles west of Belfast, set a new record for the highest overnight minimum temperature in September, with 19.3 °C, surpassing the previous record of 18.9 °C set in 2007.
2022: The month’s highest gust was recorded at Valentia Observatory, Co. Kerry, at 54 knots (100 km/h).
2023: The temperature reached 25.3 °C in Belfast, the third-highest daily maximum for September on record in the city.
2024: Belmullet, Co. Mayo, recorded the month’s highest daily sunshine at 12.7 hours.
