The NPWS is offering grants of up to €5,000.

A scheme aimed at bolstering expertise in species identification and recording has been announced by Ireland’s (NPWS).

Now in its seventh year, the NPWS Grants for Small Recording Projects aim to support volunteer naturalists and recording groups.

To date, the scheme has supported nearly 180 projects covering various aspects of Irish natural history.

Projects include conferences, books, specialist equipment, training, and species surveys.

The 2025 grant scheme is now open for applications and features a maximum individual grant value of €5,000, paid in arrears on vouched expenditure.

Eligible projects include those related to biological recording, data collation, and dissemination related to the natural history of Ireland.

Projects covering all semi-natural and natural habitats or native species are also included in the 2025 scheme.
