Rainfall totals generally over the past week were below normal across the south and east of Ireland, with parts of the north, west, and midlands recording average or above-average totals.

Valentia, Co. Kerry saw the most at 28.9mm, while Cork Airport recorded just 6.7mm. The coming week will be mixed, with showers and dry spells.

Totals of 10–30mm are expected in the northwest, but much of the east and southeast will stay under 10mm.

Temperatures last week were 1.4 to 3°C above normal, warmest in the east (17.2°C at Casement) and coolest in the northwest, according to Met Éireann.

Soil temperatures also remain well above average and will continue that way. Sunshine was near or above normal in most areas, though the southwest remained dull, with Valentia seeing just 42% of its average.

Drying and spraying conditions will stay limited for now, but should improve midweek. Soil moisture deficits range from 5 to 50mm, highest in the south, with further drying expected in eastern and southern areas.
