Saharan Dust paints Ireland’s skies
Temperatures rose into the high teens across Ireland’s western seaboard on Tuesday, with one station recording the highest temperature of the year so far.
County Kerry pipped Roscommon by 0.1°C to record the warmest day of 2025 to date.
19.6°C was recorded at Valentia, just 24 hours after the previous year’s high (19.5°C) was registered at Mount Dillon.
High pressure is continuing to deliver warm and settled conditions, which will last into the weekend.
Colourful sunrises and sunsets have been the order of the day, and Dublin Bay was no exception this morning.
A plume of Saharan dust, which has moved northward over Ireland, has helped to create vibrant, colourful sunset and sunrise scenes.
The dust has also contributed to hazy conditions during the day in places.

Unsettled conditions from Sunday through next week will bring an end to what has been an exceptionally dry spell of weather.
All parts of Ireland will see rainfall at times next week as Atlantic frontal systems approach from the west.
