‘Tyre Track’ Clouds Above Munster

A NASA satellite image of Ireland, taken 700 km above Earth’s surface shortly before midday on Monday, shows cloud formations that take on the appearance of tyre tracks.
The distinctive cloud pattern is the result of wave clouds, or altostratus undulatus, which form a wavy appearance due to wind shear.
Apart from the northwest, most parts of Ireland have enjoyed spells of warm sunshine during Monday.

The temperature has risen to 22.3 °C at Oak Park in Carlow, while Casement, Phoenix Park, and Dublin Airport have also seen the mercury rise to 22 °C.
Temperatures will rise further from Thursday and will likely reach the mid-20s away frome xpsoed coastal locations of the east coast.
