Satellite reveals scattered showers and sunny spells

Satellite imagery shows Ireland enjoying a mix of scattered showers and sunny spells today.
A band of showers pushing eastward across the island was visible on a satellite image captured by NASA MODIS shortly before midday.
More widespread sunshine is expected across the country as the day progresses.

A similar day is expected Thursday. It will be largely dry in the south and southeast, with scattered showers elsewhere, some of which may be heavy. There is a risk of thunderstorms by evening in east Ulster.
Although scattered showers and occasional rain will affect the west and north, southern and eastern areas will see more settled and warmer conditions over the next ten days.
Temperatures are forecast to rise gradually next week as high pressure builds over southern regions, leading to sunnier and more stable weather.
In contrast, the west and northwest will continue to experience more unsettled conditions with intermittent rain or showers.
