Irish city lights sparkle for NASA satellite
The ongoing dry period of weather has helped to dry soils saturated from winter rains, but it has also produced wonderful satellite imagery of the island of Ireland.
The above NASA satellite view of Ireland and Britain from space at 2.45am this morning shows largely clear skies and the beaming lights of Ireland’s towns and cities.
The clear skies allowed overnight temperatures to drop to -2.4 °C at Ballyhaise, Cavan, and -5.1 °C at Castlederg, Tyrone.
The highest temperature recorded in Ireland during Wednesday was 16.8 °C at Valentia Observatory in Kerry.
A high of 18c is likely somewhere in the west during Thursday, which would make it the warmest day of the year to date.
