
Wednesday marked by soaring temperatures in the northwest

Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland both recorded their warmest day of the year on Wednesday.
Finner, County Donegal recorded 20.8°C and Castlederg, County Tyrone, reached 21.2°C.
Newport Furnace, County Mayo, likely reached close to 22°C, but this has yet to be confirmed by Met Éireann.
Other high readings on the day included Thomastown, County Fermanagh (20.6°C), Belmullet, County Mayo (20.5°C), and Claremorris, County Mayo, and Shannon Airport, County Clare (20.4°C).

Temperatures will drop close to freezing in places on Wednesday night, with patches of mist and fog developing.
Tuesday night saw the temperature drop below freezing in parts of The Midlands, including Mullingar in County Westmeath which recorded -0.1°C.
Meanwhile, Claremorris jumped from 1.7°C at 6am to 20.4°C at 4.00 p.m., a near 19°C swing.
Another sunny and warm day is expected during Thursday.
Temperatures will range 17 to 22°C in light and variable winds.
Temperatures will progressively drop from highs of 16 to 20°C on Friday to 10 to 13°C by Sunday.
It will remain dry everywhere until Saturday evening, at which point some light rain or showers will push into Atlantic coastal counties.
Sunday will be largely dry, apart from some well-scattered showers feeding in from the Atlantic.
Showers will be heavier and more frequent during Monday and may merge to give longer spells of rain in the west and northwest.
